December 2023

Last month was hard. I fell into a bit of a dark place and stopped going to the gym for most of the month. (Investor Tip: Generally you can detect when I’m feeling off because 3MR stops posting.) It’s especially hard because I started off so strong and was really digging into my new Binder Based Planning System and it all seemed so possible.

So be it, sometimes life throws a wrench in the works. And now it’s December and I’ll save the quarterly review and annual planning for later but this is a month of wrapping things up and reflection.

This year didn’t end up the way I expected financially and so we will be looking for some new opportunities soon!

I just updated all my goals for October with a โŒ or โœ… based on how I feel I did on them. It’s definitely more โŒ than I’d like, but I’m okay with it as long as I can improve November. Also, adding some more numbers to some of the goals this month.

October 2023

Wrote up my review of the third quarter and have been spending a lot of time playing around with process and worksheets. I bought a three hole punch and a binder and I’m making daily, weekly, and monthly worksheets based on thinking about process and later reflection. It feels pretty good so far!

This had led me to perhaps over plan for October but I think this is all doable by the end of the month. It’s not actually more, it’s just a bit more detail. And I have much of it broken down to even more detail in a spreadsheet.

September 2023

I’m keeping the exact same goals for September as for August. My creative energy will be going into Blippo+, some Desk + Computer work, and a new podcast project I’ll put before the shareholders. The alt IG account didn’t really work as a way of accountability because I can’t bring myself to post gym selfies. But it’s a private account so maybe I should just do it anyway.

In addition to working on being a bit more proactive and structured with my time I’d like to be more disciplined in my reading. And I’ve started playing with some the ChatGPT tools and I’m finding it really compelling for the first time.

I’m writing my August goals 15 days into the month having spent half the month traveling or sick (rough couple of days laid out by COVID). This has helped me realize I need to limit my goals even more.

For the rest of August I will prioritize time to read, work on a few projects, and being healthy. And I’m going to experiment with accountability by posting to my alt private IG account @theK5M.

This year I’ve been on track with reading and I’ve been watching a lot more movies. I haven’t been writing as many shareholder updates or blog posts, and I’ve kind of given up on social media (to be fair, it’s a horrible train wreck). Instead the focus has been on larger projects, many of which are bound by privacy restrictions until they are farther along.

So one change I’d like to make is to build some more K5M routines into my daily habits so I don’t miss things like when the Policy Vote for Super Hero Movies switched to Watch ALL Super Hero Movies.

The work with the recently hinted at Blippo+ project took up a lot more time than anticipated, so we’re focusing largely on that for May with the goal of a release in Q4 of 2023. Meanwhile 3MR and HBR continue.

We’ve made no progress on EGG so far this year which is a problem.

With two months of Agile Resolutions finished I can take a look at what is and isn’t working and adapt accordingly. I want to plan on doing less, and then accomplish more of it.

  • Reading is going great, but I’m really relying on audiobooks. Not going to change that for March, but might specify non-audio for the 2nd quarter.
  • Health + Fitness is fine. I put on a little weight at the end of the month but I have my next DEXA scan coming up, which I’m hoping will help move my focus from weight. I’d also like to figure out some measurable fitness goals.
  • Projects is where I want to reduce my load. I’m moving anything D+C related to “Work” as well as the Book Proposal and possible TV/Film rights and the B+ project as those are all possible money makers.
  • Work wise I have a little site and “label” for my work efforts. Need to get the DBA set up in California so I can accept checks to Michael Wave.
